This nationally recognized Pharmaceutical Sales Representative online training course (CNPR) and program was developed in response to a rising need for entry-level certified pharmaceutical sales representatives. Healthcare Provider CPR  

This course is designed for medical care providers and provides instruction for CPR (one- and two-rescuer) and relief of choking for the adult, child, and infant victim. Topics include the use of airway devices like the bag valve mask and various pocket masks. All participants must be able to kneel on the floor beside a manikin for extended periods of time. Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens  

This course, designed for anyone with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens, provides instruction regarding workplace exposure. Topics include reducing the chance of exposure, personal protective equipment, and exposure incident response. Pharmacy Technician Hospital & Retail Externship I  

An externship in which you perform daily pharmacy technician tasks consisting of 160 hours at local area hospital and retail pharmacies is required to complete this course. This is the first of two 80-hour courses designed to complete that requirement. Externship eligibility may be dependent upon a criminal background check and drug testing. Students with criminal records should check with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board at www.ptcb.org to determine eligibility for certification. Pharmacy Technician Training Theory and Externship hours must be completed successfully during the timeframe indicated to receive a certificate. Student externship hours must include a minimum of 20 hours per week scheduled individually with each student. Prerequisite: Pharmacy Technician Training Theory. Lab jacket required as a uniform. Pharmacy Technician Training Theory  

In less than a year, you can become a pharmacy technician and assist pharmacists in the retail pharmacy, hospital, clinic, mail order, or pharmaceutical wholesalers industry. This course meets Maryland Board of Pharmacy regulations (pending approval). Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to sit for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Exam and apply for registration with the Maryland Pharmacy Board. You will learn to provide medication and other healthcare products to patients; mix intravenous solutions, count medication and label bottles; receive electronic and written prescriptions and refills; process computerized order entry; verify complete and accurate prescriptions; use dosage calculation and conversions; compound (sterile and non-sterile); and inventory prescription and over-the-counter medications. Instructional delivery includes both face-to-face classroom sessions and an online component. You must be computer literate and have Internet access to be successful. Assess your readiness for this course by going to www.harford.edu/online and taking the quiz, "Is distance learning right for you?". You must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Prerequisites include Foundations of Healthcare, HIPAA Compliance, Healthcare Professionalism, Healthcare Provider CPR, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Introduction to Business Computing, Law & Medical Ethics, Math for Healthcare Careers, and Medical Terminology. You may test out of selected prerequisites by making an appointment at the Test Center (443-412-2352) and requesting exams for HIPAA (HIPA), Human Anatomy & Physiology (HAP), Math (ACEA), and Medical Terminology (MTER).
