Independently improve your swim strokes or fitness level. Get active and move more with less stress on your joints! Lifeguard is on duty, but there is no instructor for this class. Students may only swim during the college's Spring Semester Open Recreation Swim Hours which are posted on HCC's website - or call 443-412-2113 to find out the Spring Open Recreation Swim Hours.
For those needing re-certification as public swimming pool
and spa operators. Refresher necessary every three years to
retain license. Must show current pool operator's card to
instructor. Upon successful completion, students will
receive an updated national pool/spa operator's
certification recognized by Maryland State Health
Department and Harford County Health Department.

Students must be 16 years old by last day of class and will be required to present proof of age with a photo ID. on the first day of class. Upon successful completion of this course, student will receive a pool operator's license certificate recognized by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Harford County Health Department. To be eligible for this course, participants must be 15 years old on or before the last session. The participant will be required to pass a pre-course test which includes treading water for two minutes without hands, a 300 yard swim and swimming 20 yards (freestyle or breaststroke), surface diving to 10 feet, retrieving a 10 pound object and swimming it back to the original starting point. CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification is part of this course. No previous CPR or First Aid is required. Successful exit requirements for this course are: attending all sessions, three water skill scenarios and achieving at least an 80% grade on the two written exams. Online textbook included with course fee.
Swimmers will get conditioned for their upcoming season while also working on stroke mechanics. Instructors will train the swimmers while pointing out technical flaws with the hopes of improving each stroke. Starts and turns will be worked on as well. All swimmers must be able to swim competently as this is not swim lessons
Water aerobics can be a pleasurable experience. These aerobic exercises are designed specifically for water and they provide benefits such as body toning, muscle flexibility, and improvement to the cardiovascular system. Besides, it's not only healthy, it's fun!!!
