This course is designed for medical care providers and provides instruction for CPR (one- and two-rescuer) and relief of choking for the adult, child, and infant victim. Topics include the use of airway devices like the bag valve mask and various pocket masks. All participants must be able to kneel on the floor beside a manikin for extended periods of time. The AAAI/ISMA Master Personal Trainer certification class ("Level 2")
builds upon the tools learned in the AAAI/ISMA Personal Fitness Trainer
program. The emphasis in this class is how to work safely and
effectively with people who have special needs or conditions such as
high blood pressure, diabetes, and arthritis to name a few. It is
recommended that people pass the AAAI/ISMA Personal Fitness Trainer class before taking the Master Trainer class.
The AAAI/ISMA Personal Trainer certification course will help you safely and effectively work with individuals during personal fitness training sessions and enhance your exercise and health knowledge. An exam is given at the end of the day for those attempting to become certified. Those attempting certification must study before the test. The course covers a variety of topics including but not limited to, muscle physiology, cardiovascular physiology. Exercise guidelines, program design, fitness marketing, myth busting and more. For those needing re-certification as public swimming pool
and spa operators. Refresher necessary every three years to
retain license. Must show current pool operator's card to
instructor. Upon successful completion, students will
receive an updated national pool/spa operator's
certification recognized by Maryland State Health
Department and Harford County Health Department.

Students must be 16 years old by last day of class and will be required to present proof of age with a photo ID. on the first day of class. Upon successful completion of this course, student will receive a pool operator's license certificate recognized by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Harford County Health Department. To be eligible for this course, participants must be 15 years old on or before the last session. The participant will be required to pass a pre-course test which includes treading water for two minutes without hands, a 300 yard swim and swimming 20 yards (freestyle or breaststroke), surface diving to 10 feet, retrieving a 10 pound object and swimming it back to the original starting point. CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification is part of this course. No previous CPR or First Aid is required. Successful exit requirements for this course are: attending all sessions, three water skill scenarios and achieving at least an 80% grade on the two written exams. Online textbook included with course fee.
